Important Notes To Keep Personal Data Protected

hlbvn news

Dear Valued Customers,

Recently, the news regarding the incident at the National Credit Information Centre of Vietnam (CIC) has caused widespread concern. We understand that you may be worried about the security of your accounts and credit information. Hong Leong Bank would like to affirm that sensitive information such as your passwords, PINs, and debit card CVV/CVC codes are NOT STORED on the CIC system. As a result, your financial transactions with Hong Leong Bank remain secure.

However, cybercriminals may exploit this situation to execute sophisticated scams. They might use your personal information, such as ID number, Bank account details, to build trust. Remember, a bank staff will NEVER call you to ask for confidential information like passwords, OTPs, PINs, or credit/debit card CVV/CVC code. If someone claiming to be from a bank requests such details, it is a scam.

Below are some common fraud schemes that you should be especially vigilant about.

COMMON FRAUD SCHEMES TO BE PARTICULARLY AWARE OF
  • Phone/SMS Scams: Scammers will impersonate bank staff, the CIC, police, or even Hong Leong Bank employees. They'll tell you that your "credit profile has an error" or that you have a "bad debt" and then ask you to provide personal information, an OTP, or transfer money to "fix" the issue.
  • Email/Phishing Link Scams: Criminals will send emails or messages containing fake links that lead to websites designed to look identical to a legitimate bank or organization. The goal is to trick you into logging in and stealing your account information.
  • Promises to "Erase Bad Debt" or "Improve Credit Score": There is absolutely no service that can interfere with or change your bad debt status or credit score. Any such offer is a scam.
  • New financial scams: Scammers are offering to increase your credit limit with a simple procedure, announcing a quick, pre-approved loan at a low interest rate, or pretending there are suspicious or locked funds on your account. Their common goal is to trick you into providing confidential information or transferring money to their personal accounts.
IMPORTANT NOTES TO PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION
  •  Don't provide sensitive information: Never provide your otp, passwords, or any personal information to anyone over the phone, via text message, or email, even if they claim to be a bank employee.
  • Be cautious of suspicious links: Only use the HLB Connect app downloaded from official app stores (App Store/Google Play Store) and access our official website.

  • Lock your card immediately if you see strange transactions: If you detect any suspicious transactions, you can lock your card instantly on the HLB Connect app or contact the hotline for emergency support.

  • Verify information: Always verify information by calling Hong Leong bank's official hotline directly at 1900633068 for assistance.

  • Contact the bank or a relevant authority immediately if you discover or suspect any signs of a scam or cyberattack.

Please regularly update yourself with the latest safe transaction guidelines on the Hong Leong Bank website. Additionally, proactively protect your own accounts and remain vigilant against fraudulent activities.

If you suspect or detect any signs of fraud or hacking, please promptly contact Hong Leong bank via Hotline 1900633068, or visit the nearest bank branch for assistance (during business hours).

Your sincerely,
Hong Leong Bank Limited Vietnam
